Staunton Grand Re-Opening - Monday, February 6th at 8am
Come out and join us for the Grand Re-Opening at
1104 Greenville Avenue
The remodeled store features an updated floor layout with tile flooring and new check-outs, a redesigned book section, and other renovations that create a bright and modern shopping experience.
The grand opening is scheduled for Monday, February 6th at 8am and will continue through Friday, February 10th.
During grand opening festivities shoppers will have the opportunity to register to win one of several $40 Goodwill gift certificates and take advantage of thousands of bargains throughout the store.
Store hours are: Monday – Saturday from 8am – 9pm and Sunday noon – 6pm.

Bag it Up! A Collaborative Community Donation Drive
Saturday, March 31st 10am to 7pm at all Goodwill store locations

Local Girl Scouts will be collecting gently used material donations to benefit Goodwill. For every donation bin filled, the Girl Scouts will earn two $10 Goodwill vouchers to distribute to local families in need.
How to participate:
- Get your "Bag it Up" donation bag and ticket from a local Girl Scout on February 25th at all Goodwill store locations (Use of "Bag it Up" donation bag is optional. Donors may use any bag/box to bring donations.)
- Make sure the Girl Scout troop number is stated on the ticket.
- Fill the bag with gently used items to donate to Goodwill
- Bring your donation & ticket to any Goodwill store on Saturday, March 31st.
Acceptable donations include gently used clothing, shoes, accessories, toys, housewares, books, furniture, computers and computer equipment, small appliances, cars, and more.
Girl Scouts will also be selling cookies at Goodwill stores on February 25th and March 31st!

Computer Classes
Through a collaboration with Roanoke City Libraries and AmeriCorps basic computer classes are now available at Goodwill's Melrose Jobs Campus in the Workforce Training Center located in Suite B.
All classes are two hours, offered at no charge, and are open to the public. Call (540) 581.0620 ext. 214 to reserve your seat. Please register for classes as space is limited. If you register and find you cannot make it please call to cancel to allow room for others.

The following classes are available:
Computer Basics
- Meet the Mouse: This course introduces students to the computer, the keyboard and mouse, and the basic use of programs. No prior knowledge is assumed. By the end of the course students should be able to name the basic parts of the computer, use the keyboard and the mouse, navigate the desktop, and open files and programs.

- Windows Basics: This course builds off the basics learned in Meet the Mouse and delves deeper into the functions of the computer. Students learn about keyboard functions, the form of windows and menus in Windows XP, important system tools, and what to look for when encountering a program on the computer for the first time.

10:30am - 12:30pm
- Navigating the Net: This course introduces students to the Internet. By the end of the course students will understand what the Internet is, how to connect to it, how to view (or “visit”) a web page and how to perform a basic Web search. An “Internet scavenger hunt” is provided with links to a variety of helpful and interesting sites.
Prerequisites: Meet the Mouse (or basic computer skills)

Tuesday, February 7th: 2:00pm - 4:00pm
- Introduction to Email: This course covers the basics of using Google's email service (Gmail). By the end of the course students will have created their own email account and will know how to check their email, reply to and forward received messages, compose new messages, and even attach files!
Prerequisites: Navigating the Net (or equivalent computer skills).

- Better Web Searching: This course will help users to more effectively perform web searches. Advanced search tools will be discussed as well as specialty search engines, Boolean operators, and other search techniques.

- Using Maps Online: Learn how to use online mapping programs like MapQuest, how to get directions, check alternative routes, etc.

- Online Job Search and Application: Online Job Search and Application is intended to help users enter (or re-enter) the job market. Online Job Search will include searching for jobs on the Internet and filling out applications online.
Prerequisites: Microsoft Word I and Navigating the Net (or equivalent computer skills).

- Resume Writing: Resume writing is intended to help users enter (or re-enter) the job market. The Resume class will focus on using Microsoft Word to create attractive and effective resumes.
Prerequisites: Microsoft Word I and Navigating the Net (or equivalent computer skills).

Microsoft Office
- Microsoft Word I: This course introduces students to Microsoft Word, a popular word processing program. By the end of the course students will learn how to open and close the program as well as how to create, open, save, and print documents. Basic formatting of documents will also be discussed.
Prerequisites: Basic computer skills

- Microsoft Word II: This course focuses on editing and formatting Microsoft Word documents. Topics include: spelling and grammar checks, page, paragraph, and line formatting, inserting headers and footers, and managing pictures.

- Microsoft PowerPoint I:
This course presents the basics of making presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint. This class will teach you to create slides and presentations, add content to slides, save, print, and more!

- Microsoft PowerPoint II: This class will focus on the formatting and presentation of PowerPoint slides, from pictures to WordArt and slide transitions. Learn how to really put on a show!

- Microsoft Excel I: This course introduces students to Microsoft Excel, a popular program for creating spreadsheets. Students will learn to create and navigate spreadsheets, enter data, and create basic formulas.
