TANF Services

Virginia’s TANF (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families) program emphasize personal responsibility. Participants may be provided with services such as job skills training, work experience, job readiness training, child care assistance, transportation, and other work related expenses.

TANF program participants are referred and funded by the Department of Social Services.

Goodwill support services

Goodwill provides support services to the Department of Social Services in local communities to determine the employment ability for those individuals receiving TANF support. These support services include:

Interview to determine individual goals
Assessment of interests, ability, and needs
Referrals for diagnostic testing
Recommendation for alternate support services
Case management

Support services are provided at times determined by the individual needs of the program participant.
