Medicaid Waiver Services

Specialized Medicaid Waiver programs

In addition to a combination of Day Support and Prevocational services, Goodwill® also offers specific programs with smaller staff to participant ratios to individuals with specialized needs. Individuals served in these programs must have a primary diagnosis of developmental disabilities. They must meet the requirements for high intensity services, with deficits in at least one of the following areas:

  • Assistance to meet basic personal care needs.
  • Extensive disability related difficulties requiring ongoing support to fully participate in activities.
  • Constant supervision to reduce or eliminate behaviors for full participation in program.

The individual must be in stable medical condition without the need for skilled nursing services. Enteral feeding is offered.

Individuals participating in Specialized Medicaid Waiver programs at Goodwill are referred by Community Services Boards. Programs operate Monday through Friday from 8:30am - 3pm.

Specialized Day Services (SDS)

SDS provides vocational training in independent living skills and community integration to individuals with mental, emotional, and behavioral difficulties. The program includes training in:

  • Vocational skills
  • Community resources and safety awareness
  • Learning skills, problem solving, and accepting responsibility

Goodwill offers training activities so participants will have on-going opportunities to maximize skill development.

Adult Developmental Learning Services (ADLS)

ADLS offers prevocational training and day support services to individuals with mental, emotional, and physical difficulties. The program encourages independence through training in community integration activities, self-care skills, individual and group counseling, and individual outcome setting. The program provides training in:

  • Self, social, and environmental awareness.
  • Sensory stimulation, gross and fine motor skills.
  • Communication and personal care.
  • Use of community resources and community safety.
  • Learning and problem solving skills.
